Biography
James Cameron is one of the most successful people in the
movie industry. A large part of his success is due to Titanic,
still today the biggest selling film that has ever been released
as well as a string of large budget, large popularity movies
which have left their mark on Hollywood.
Born on Ontario, Canada in Augst 16, 1954, he got into movies
from a young age with one of his favorite movies being Stanley
Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. In 1971, he moved to Souther
California where we went off to study physics. After graduation
he decided to move into the film industry.
Cameraon was soon fired by Roger Corman as a model maker
but soon he was climbing up the vine making his directorial
debute with Piranha 2: The Spawning. Luckily the film was
so bad it inspired him to make The Terminator (1984). This
created a wave through holloywood and followed this up with
Rambo: First Blood Part II and Aliens. He later produced The
Abyss which won him an Oscar for Best Special Effects.
In 1991 he wrote, produced and directed Terminator 2: Judgement
Day followed by several other movies although these did not
achieve similar success until in 1997, he produced Titanic,
which despite costing over 200 million dolloars, it remains
one of the most successful movies of all time, with over 600
million dollars in the U.S., 14 Oscar nominations and 11 Oscars.
Although my personal favorite of James Cameron's work is
2000 when he produced the science fiction series Dark Angel,
starring Jessica
Alba. However the show was untimely dropped by Fox after
just a second series.
